Storms, Storms Go Away

As many of you know, storms hit the state pretty bad almost a month ago. April 27th to be exact.

Words can't describe. I don't even know where to start. Tornadoes hit all across the state, lives were lost, homes gone, and power was out.

I was with my mom the day it happened. We were caught out in the storm heading to her house. We couldn't get home, there were trees down everywhere. It was only 11 o'clock in the morning and we still had the rest of the day ahead of us. We were shaking with fear. We didn't know where to go, we headed to Kroger, sat in the back dripping wet, shaking, freezing, with 100 of our closest friends it seemed like at that moment. Some publix lady was holding wesley, trying to keep him warm. How kind was she. People screamed updates. Tornado here, one is heading this way. The worst was yet to come though.

Mom, Wesley and I made it home a short while later. We ate our cold lunch, and stayed glued to the tv. More tornadoes came through. I had everything we would need in the hallway and bathroom. Kris was stuck at work, and couldn't come home. Then about four o'clock more storms came. The worst thing you can hear from the weather man, Monrovia you have FOUR MINUTES to take cover! I was mess. We did that for the next two hours. In and out of the bathroom. I cried. We laughed. We were in a daze really. My sister made it home right before the last storm. We huddled there together. Ready for the worst.

We went outside at a break. I found hail the size of a golf ball in the front yard.

The next storms came. Kris made it home. We had no power, no tv, no cell phone service. We were in shock. We had a weather radio that was our lifeline to the outside world for the next five days.

That night came. It was eerily dark. No lights anywhere to be seen. It can get pretty dark without any light whatsoever. Kris and I drove to our apartment to collect items and make sure it was okay. We talked to some friends from tuscaloosa, they lost everything. You can read her story here. You will need a tissue or two.

The next five days we had no power. We volunteered. Helped friends that were worse off than us. My mom got a generator the next day from clarksville tn. We survived pretty well. Others were not so lucky. We went to one of the neighborhoods that got hit horrible. It was unbelievable. Nothing left of houses. Pictures of people everywhere. We helped what we could. Talked to people cleaning up what was left of their houses. There is still tons to be done. But we were lucky.

That's our clothes line, where we ate. and how we cooked at night. We could hook up things to the generator. Laundry was a must with a baby. and its amazing how one little lamp can make you feel so much better.

Now every time a storm is coming we get uneasy. I think i might get ulcer or something from worry. At one point during that Wednesday i took my blood pressure and it was something outrageous like 140 over 87. Usually it's around 110-120 over 60-70.

SEVEN MONTHS!

Wesley turned seven months April 29th. No pictures were taken. Sorry. We were in the aftermath of the tornadoes. We made it but were without power for five days! I'll post about that after.

Easter!

Well several Easter Bunnies visited wesley this year. He is definitely spoiled.

We got him some connectable type cars, i made him some soft blocks to play with and a teething type ring. He also got a cute little easter outfit. I made him a matching tie with his dad. It was adorable.

His Grandma Thurgood got him a huge dump truck, books, a leapfrog book, and a push and ride type toy for when he is a little older.

Mrs. Gore, a family friend, got him the cutest little easter bunny, socks, and a rubber duck.

He is so loved by everyone.

Character.

Wesley's definitely has a personality. He's always doing the funniest things. He's learned to squeal. Oh the joy it is in our apartment. He's also started squishing up his face. It's hilarious. And he'll also cock his head to the side randomly. So cute.

A HALF OF A YEAR!

Mr. Wesley Kristofer,

You are now six months old. You've got a smile that melts everyones heart you meet. The old ladies at church adore you and make you talk during the middle of the meeting. The grocery store attendants always say hi and you meet them with that whole face smile of yours. It's adorable and makes me smile. Luvie (my mom) can make you laugh just by looking at you. You can watch your cousins all day long. They intrigue you like nothing else can. You love to be cuddled to sleep and sung too. As soon as I start singing you quiet right down. It's a phenomenon really, especially cause i can't sing well at all. You've become attached to a little blue blanket with a white crocheted edge that has your name embroidered on it. Sleep is something you need, twelve hours a night is now a regular thing in your crib, with lots of naps during the day. I love to cuddle you while you sleep so sweetly.

Food, you definitely love it. Anything put infront of you, you'll eat. Some new things you tried this month :
kiwi, bread, goldfish, apple juice, graham crackers, fresh squash,
macaroni and cheese.
you still love fresh bananas, and your excitement sets in when you see them.

Bath time is a favorite. Kicking your feet and splashing all over is a must each day in the bath. Sometimes you try to put your head under on your tummy and swim, but you inhale water and you cry. One day you'll learn.

You can sit up all day now if you'd like. Occasionally you'll lose balance and tumble over. You're not a big fan of that, most of the times you cry. And if you're really mad about it you'll squeeze your eyes real tight and make the most ridiculous face. Your dad and I laugh everytime. If we lay you on your stomach, you attempt to crawl. you can push those little knees under you and face plant. it's great fun.

We love you Wesley, It's been the best six months of our lives. You're the sweetest thing, and bring us much joy and laughter.

Love,
Mom and Dad

Splish Splash

Bath time! Wesley loves bath time. I did a bubble bath for the first time. He wasn't too sure about it at first but after that he started kicking and trying to pick up the bubbles. He's growing up so fast. he sits up so good by himself. And he wants to crawl so bad.

He's got the sweetest smile that lights up his whole face.
