Too long

Well, it's been a while since I updated. Tons has been going on. It'll take a while to catch up. But here is the short and sweet version.

We have been hanging out with some awesome friends from our ward here. We haven't seen them this week though, it's been sad.

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! We close in ten days, but they sellers are letting us move in early due to subleasing our apartment. As we speak, Kris, my wonderful FIL, the ever so wonderful ELDERS, and Chris (our new neighbor who we stalk) is moving everything in...

It's an older house, with a little work to do. But overall it's pretty sweet. It's three bedroom, one bath. But when we get that 8000 tax credit, we're going to add another bath. It's pretty awesome. It's hard to believe we are actually home owners :)

We have had tons of time to spend with our little nephews. Malachi just turned two this week, and Ethan is turning three towards the end of this month. They are coming down today, tomorrow they get to go the football game. OUr great friends from church gave us some tickets.

IT's almost Thanksgiving and Christmas! How exciting.

And my Sister in Law is having a baby girl next year. And we are so excited for her :) Yay GINA!!

I'll try to post pictures soon.

Toodles.

Surprise

We got a fun little visit from our nephews tonight. My sister in law went to a concert in b'ham and my father in law brought the boys and hung out. They are so cute and so full of personality. Here's some sweet pictures.

Daily Gems

I signed up through the church to have the different gems sent to me each day. If you haven't done that, you should go onto lds.org and do it. It's definitely a treat :) Today's was sweet. I thought I'd Share.

Joy in Our Lives

Comcast Sucks!

Kris and I sit here, watching the Nebraska and Mizzou game on ESPN 360 on our 14 inch computer screen. We have a perfectly good (one left, that's a story for another time) T.V. sitting in front of us. We signed up for comcast on August 28th, and still do not have cable. We have had 9 appointments now in the last month and then some. We have a ton of idiots meander around our house only to conclude they can't figure it out. Well that is their job, they should be able to figure it out, um.. HELLLOOO that's what you do everyday. Well yesterday, yet another appointment, a gentleman came out to tell us in this wonderful homemade apartment we live in will cost hundreds of dollars to rewire and let us finally watch some TV. Blast. But not so easy, they now get to talk to our property managers (who are not so easy to work with either), our landlords, and the people who drywalled this lovely homemade unevenness we live in. So it may be even more weeks and weeks before we will be able to put this last good standing TV to use.

During the midst of us wanting and waiting to watch a college football game on TV, we had a small disaster of sorts. One night, late, Kris, Aaron, Anthony (his two best friends), and I were sitting in the living room. We were very lucky to have been given a huge 52 inch tv (the old projection screen kind). While Kris is sitting very close to the TV it sparks, smells like smokes, and is no longer working. But hey at least it was free and no one is hurt. We now have a 21inch TV sitting on two kitchen chairs as our entertainment center. Oh the joys of the newly wed life! We don't even watch movies, it's just too dissappointing...

Weekend Home

Kris and I had the opportunity to go home this past weekend and spend time with our families. It was my sister and dads birthday, the 15th and the 16th. We had a little barbecue with a few friends.

Friday night, my wonderful sister in law Carrie cut our hair and colored mine. It feels wonderful not to look like I have a mullet. Then my sister was house sitting, a huge house, so we stayed with her. Saturday morning, we woke up washed my car, went grocery shopping with my mom (she's the best, seriously), we also had Ethan and Malachi with us. We took them to Bridgestreet (an outdoor mall) and rode the carousal and played in the fountains. They had a blast. Then we did the birthday barbecue. My dad also got his new truck on Saturday, he traded in his clunker. It was a pretty good deal and he finally has a new truck. Then Sunday we went to church with Kris's family and hung out there.

It is so good to spend time with family. We love being home, it's just never quite long enough. Hopefully one day we will move back there :)

Boredom...

I'm sitting at work with nothing to do. My work was finished at 8:30 and I get here at 7:30. They have stupid filters on the Internet, so all I can do is look at blogs (I have no clue why that's not filtered, I'm pretty sure it falls under the lifestyle category) and look at CNN.com (and they have pretty bogus stuff most of the time or stuff I'm not interested in). So it leaves me to search blog after blog. I need more blogs to read. If you have any good suggestions let me know :) And after four weeks at this job, I am an excellent blog stalker :)
Lets test out how well this mobile blog posting works.:) current wants: great dane, tons of cute shoes, a house, and a tandem bike for me and the hubs to ride.

The Fourth of July..a little late

Well Kris and I were able to go home for the Fourth of July Weekend. We hung out with friends and family, and of course our adorable nephews. It was a blast. I put some pictures on my facebook. Go check them out.

This weekend we also added to our family. We were already a family of t.hree. haha. I got a fish last August. A beautiful beta fish. His name is Kaddy. Kris adopted him. On Friday, we added another fish to our family. This fish lives in a five gallon tank fully equiped. He is an Oscar fish. He's the only one because they are mean fish. We named him Hermon. He's pretty cool except he always stays in his cave. Here is a picture of each. :)

Toodles.

Maybe something inspiring....

I don't know about you, but I love a good quote. A good quote that makes you think, makes you want to change, and just makes your heart warm. Recent goal of mine is to read as many good books as I can (I'm so over waste of time books, I have to much to learn.). So last night, as I am laying in bed next to my best friend each of us reading our respective good literature, I stumbled upon this....

"To "try" is weak. To "do the best we can" is not strong. We must always do better than we can. This is true in every walk of life."

It's Been A While

As you can tell, long time no post. I think its because all those stinkin' pictures took way too long. I needed a blog break. Well update in the J&K Life. In the last little bit, a lot has happened. New job, one month anniversary, week long trip home, sister in Spain, I'm turning crafty, etc.

Well yay. We aren't complete idiots anymore. I (J) finally got a job! Everyone celebrate because it sure did take long enough. I'll be working at the BMW/Nissan dealership here in town being a receptionist. It will be your typical 9 to 5 job, but I'm mucho excited.

K and I have been married for over a month. We went to Chili's to celebrate (thanks to some gracious person who gave us a giftcard to there for our wedding! those make great date nights. definitely what we will be giving to the next newlyweds) Then we came home and watched movies. That's our favorite thing to do is watch movies almost every night. We watched the whole Bourne series the week of our anniversary (I had never seen them before and I LOOVVEEEDD them).

K has serious car issues. About a monthish ago he got a brand new engine. Well that didn't fix the problem so he took it back. We headed home last thursday to pick it up and it started to not work again. We took it back to Honda and they gave him a new transmission. Well it took some time so we ended staying up in Huntsville an entire week. I loved it, and so did K. We spent time with family, went to see the Proposal (which we laughed through), and I had the opportunity to work in a doctor's office for two days thanks to my wonderful MIL. So it wasn't completely wasteful. I made some money and he got a new transmission. Ah yes, I got a sweet hair cut from my awesome SIL while I was home. Now I have the Drigger's haircut, just a different length. I love it. I'll post a self portrait soon maybe.

My sister went to Spain yesterday. She is in transit to her university where she will be studying abroad for the next month. Isn't she brave? There were a few little mishaps, but she finally got hooked up with a girl from her class. You can follow her trip here http://viajedekirsten.blogspot.com/ .

My next task in life is to be more crafty. I've decided I'm going to make some clothes for my new job. I have to look nice and professional. And those who know me know I am a tshirt and jeans girl all they way. So here is to a new start of looking nice all the time. My mom and I went to pick out some cute patterns and material. She's going to give me her old sewing machine when we are up next weekend for Independence Day. Then the adventure shall begin. I'll post pictures with my finished products. So with all this chanage and with the new haircut previously mentioned I have to do my hair everyday so that helps. Also to help look nicer, I'm going to try this maybe . Isn't water suppose to help your skin and such? So we will see. I'll keep you updated. I need to go buy some Crystal Light first. I'll do that after I get ready for the day.

Well that's the update. Sorry so long.

Pictures Finally

We finally received our wedding pictures yesterday! It was a blast looking at them. I will post a few here over the next few days. I only know how to post a few pictures at once. but we will start with bridals.

Finally Married and Loving IT!

Well, we made it. We finally got married. We are all settled in our apartment, and I love every minute of it. It is absolutely wonderful living with your best friend. Who would have known how much fun it would be. And it beats the heck out of living with girls (no offense to past roommates) boys are just easier. I will post pictures of our cozy apartment later. It's fun and easy to clean :) We are still waiting on our wedding pictures from our photographer. I will post some favorites when we get them. I will also post some of my bridals when I get that c.d. as well. Be patient please :)

All Moved In!!!

Well, Kristofer and I moved into our apartment on Tuesday! How crazy is that. Two trailers, a truck, and a tahoe full of stuff, we got everything taken down to Tuscaloosa from Huntsville. Kris's Dad is the best packer ever. There was no way we could have gotten it all down there if it weren't for him. We owe him big time!! We have every piece of furniture or thing you could need except a vacuum and a few pans. Everything else check, check, and CHECK! How great is that! Kris, his Dad, and some of his friends carried everything up the stairs and into the apartment. His Dad and him went to turn in the trailer, return their helpers, and by the time they got back, Tony (Kris's brother), Erin (friend from high school) and I had all the furniture in place. By Wednesday at three, I had unpacked every tote and box. All we have left to do is hang some pictures and we are set. Talk about setting up quick, I guess that's what the past 20 years in the Army does to, huh?

Wedding Plan Update:

Nothing really to update except that I haven't accomplished anything lately. I still have to finish my sign-in book and centerpieces! Not good. i have a week and a day. Let's hope a miracle happens. I am also as excited as ever. I'm not nervous yet, hopefully I won't get nervous. I'm just ready for it to be here, and be done with.

Hope all is well with everyone, and see some of you next week!

Ideas Please.

Kris and I are trying to figure out some creative gifts to give our parents for all their help and support through this wedding planning fiasco. We are going to give them wedding albums after the wedding, but we want to give them a little something before hand.

I have a couple ideas, but nothing that seems quite perfect! Both of our parents like cute, personal gifts.

So help please!

.21 Days.

Packing

Everyday it is getting closer, and I am so stinkin' excited! We leave Utah next Thursday! It's coming up so fast. I still have tons to pack, as of now I have one tote packed. And I have tons of stuff to take to the good ole DI. One week and I will be headed to Home Sweet Home! Just thought I'd let everyone know :)

SURPRISE!

This weekend I had the best surprise of my life! Kristofer flew in to Utah for the weekend. He surprised me Thursday night at work. At first, I didn't even recognize him at first because that was the last thing I expected. After the first shock, I was very excited. He's known since Christmas he was coming, and he kept it a secret the whole time! What a good secret keeper he is!! Everyone knew but me that he was coming and no one let it slip. How cool. I really do hate surprises but I mostly loved this one :) Thursday my sister made dinner, and we had one of his friends over from SVU. Then on Friday we drove down to Lehi to hang out with his brother BJ and his wife Gina. Kris brought his nephew Malachi along so BJ and Gina could have a rent a baby for a weekend :). We had fun playing with Malachi as well. Then we went to his mission reunion in Bountiful, and hung out with some of his old mission buddies. On Saturday we attempted to watch Conference but fell asleep multiple times. That night we ate dinner with my grandparents, and headed back to BJ and Gina's to hang out and have fun. We went bowling and played games. It was all a blast.

We ended up staying there that night, because it was so late when we finished playing games. Sunday morning we had tickets to Conference (thanks to Kristofer’s friend Anthony), so we got up early and headed to the Conference Center. We had floor seats, and we were way close. It was Amazing. I had never been before and I loved every moment of it. Then we watched the second session with BJ and Gina and Gina's family in Holiday. It was fun, and way good food too:) My Mom's sister, Nette, threw us a couples showers Sunday Night. There we got some sweet gifts and money :) Then we just hung out the rest of the time and enjoyed our unexpected time together until Monday afternoon. It was sad to see him go, but only three weeks until I am home for good!

Finished!

Finished! Well I was home this last week, and almost all of the plans are finished. The only thing left to do do is finish my centerpieces. It is such a huge relief. We picked a caterer, florist, set up the floor plan, decorations, a person to make the cake, photography, HAND ADDRESSED all the invitations, made the inserts, and everything else. There are just a few things left to do, but they are easy and simple.

I also go to see where I am going to live, and it was so fun. It is a little attic apartment right on campus in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It is a  two bedroom, one bath apartment. We've been so lucky and gotten everything we need for our apartment from generous gifts through friends and family. It is so crazy how everything works out when you are doing the right thing.

Yesterday was two months exactly until the big day!! Time is going by so fast. It was also a good day, because all the paperwork finally went through for the apartment, so now it is legit, and Kristofer just has to sign the paperwork. I can't believe its coming so fast. But I am also so excited to finally be in the same state as him, let alone living with him.

We are both so ready for this distance to be over, its no fun. Props to everyone else who does it. It really does test you, but its wonderful. I wouldn't change it for anything, it has brought us so much closer.

A Little Crafty Fun!

So I've had the urge to do all sorts of random projects lately. So here is a glimpse of what i have done. I have a cricut machine that can cut paper and such. So I've been making a scrapbook sign-in book for my wedding. I don't have pictures of that though. I'm not very good at it. But my sister and I were at Hobby Lobby and saw a cute idea for a glass box for my  mom. So we created it the other day. And here is what it looks like :) (last image)  She will love it. We will give it to her on Friday when we go home for a week and a few days.  Next, i made a scripture picture frame. Kris loves D&C 88:119. its says "Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;" So i used vinyls, flowers, and a frame so we can hang it up in our future house (first picture) As you might could see in the picture, while putting the words on I broke a pane of the glass, so I need to go buy a new one. The broken one will work to press the flowers for now. I can't wait to see it on the wall. And the middle picture is vinyl up on the wall in the apartment. It says "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!"
