A few weeks ago we decided to potty train Wesley. We had been thinking about it for a while, but decided the first weekend in October would be the perfect weekend to start. It was a three day weekend for Kris, and we didn't have church because of General Conference. So we could stay at home and focus on Wesley.
We read the potty training in 3 days method and decided to follow that. We woke up Saturday morning. Ate some breakfast, drank some juice, and put on Undies! We let him run around in his undies, socks and a shirt. We had an elmo potty that we put in the toy room and just let him run around. We kept reminding him to tell us when he had to potty. Needless today, the day was horrible. We went through no joke like 20 pairs of underwear and my house smelled like pee. Not fun!! I was ready to give up, but Kris said no lets keep going. Sunday was much better. We only had six or so accidents. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! And everyday kept getting better. We go pee pee in the potty almost every time. We only have an accident if he isn't being watched for signs or outside. For some reason he just thinks he can pee in his pants outside (it'd be much nicer if he would just pull them down and pee on the grass but i guess we haven't grasped that concept yet).
Also, what helped us was a sticker chart and treats. He really enjoyed his sticker charts.
Poo is a whole other story. He still does that in his pants. Daily. It's terrible. I know it's a hard concept for most kids. He will sit down and go a little in the potty but doesn't get the concept of all of it. I think it's easier to do it standing up for him. I am sure we will get there. Everytime it happens I make a huge deal of how gross it is. So maybe he will understand soon. Let's hope.
For those who have yet to go through it, just make it through day one and two! After that it gets easier.
Wesley's 2nd Birthday
I still can't believe I have a two year old. That just seems crazy to me. We celebrated with a Cars theme. Wesley is a little bit obsessed with the movie Cars. We put up balloons and a happy birthday banner. I didn't get any pictures. I was too worried about making sure everything went well and Wesley was having fun. All the food had Cars names. We had Mater's Tater Chips, White wall tires, black wall tires, sheriff's stoplights, Organic Fuel, Lightning McQueens Pit Crew. I made him a race track cake with cars on it. He loved it.
Wesley really enjoyed it, and of course he got spoiled. We got tons of awesome presents and We are in the process of getting him a swing set for our backyard that I am sure he will love.
Here's a few pictures.

Che
Meet Che. Our new puppy. Or Wesley's puppy. (Wesley always asks, "Where is Wesley's puppy") She is about five months old. She is a weimaraner and lab mix! and we love her. She has been pretty easy so far.
Wesley and Che go on adventures all around the back yard. It is awesome. They entertain each other as long as they can go outside. The last few days it's been raining and they can't go outside. Cooped all day inside makes me a little crazy I have decided.
Thanks to Kim for taking these pictures.

To Remember.
1. Sunday after church, We were at Kris' Parents house. At the dinner table. Wesley randomly started singing once there was a snowman. Actions and All. Pure awesomeness.
2. This morning we were singing songs from nursery (choo choo, head shoulders, snowman, popcorn) anyways. In the middle of singing head and shoulders wesley said SING LOUDER! and then started to scream the words. Hilarious.
August Utah Trip
We went to Utah in August, just as a family. We spent most of our time with BJ, Gina, and Kenley. It was so good to just hang out with them. We definitely did a lot, and let the little kids play their hearts out.
The trip out there was a breeze. Wesley did great on the airplane once again. And people complimented on how well behaved he was. I always get nervous that he will that screaming child. Haha.
While we were out there, Kris found a half marathon that was going on. He decided that he was going to run it and trained. It was his first half. It was held in Park City. The race was super Early, so we packed up and headed up. I wanted to see him finish. Needless to say he did great. He finished 9th in his age division and 52nd over all. I was very proud of him.
We went to my family's farm and my cousin took us on a little horseback riding. Wesley loved it and did great riding with Mindy. We also took him riding on four wheelers and the Gator. He helped Mindy Bring things out of the shed and comb the horses.
We went to a stars game one night. The kids had fun. They do a free train ride and they were so excited.

We had lots of other fun adventures there like eating a ton, playing at the fountains in city creek, going to a water park and an adventure land (can't remember the name of it). It was so good to see them and we miss them tons. Maybe one day we will live closer.
Tasty Tuesday
Ah. I tried two new things this past week. I am pretty excited about both. The first was a good deal.
You may be like me, I always see split chicken breast on sale for super cheap. Today it was 99 cents a pound!! What!! Fantastic deal. So I was curious. I texted a few friends, did a little google search and I decided to go for it.
Here is what I learned. Split chicken breasts is bone in and skin on. They are said to be more juicy and a little more flavorful than boneless skinless chicken breasts. They are a little more work. But I have time being home all day so a little extra work doesn't usually stop me. So anyways. I picked up some at the store. I brought it home and stuck it in the fridge and looked for a great recipe. I couldn't find anything that sounded delicious. So I made up my own by using a little everything from everyone's. So I took my 7x11 pan. And sprayed some cooking spray. I took the chciken breats, rinsed them off good. I peeled the skin back and put a very generous amount of onion and garlic seasoning. (I personally love mcormick seasons) and a little tenderizer on there. Too and bottom. All over seasoning.. Laid them in the pan and sprayed a little cooking oil on top to add a little crispness onto them. I baked them at 400 for just under an hour.. They were amazing! I should have taken a picture..
My next goodness was something Kris asked me to fix. He found it on a runners site and emailed it to me. It was for a peach scone. Here is the link :

It's more of a cobbler type thing. Very delicious. I would add a spice next time. But very good. In the comments someone said making them in smaller containers. Maybe we will try that next.
A little nugget.
As I was doing a little blog hopping, I came upon this nugget. Enjoy:

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded.

To remember.
I don't want to forget the little things. So to remember, Wesley Pulled his pants on all by himself today and was so proud. They were a little crooked but they were on. Also. His church pants are a little big around his waste (actually all of his pants are) and they were falling down in church today. He said oh no my pants my pants. And tried to pull them up. It was hilarious.
ALMOST TWO!
I can't believe Wesley will be two in the next few weeks. That is crazy to me. And makes me want to cry just a little bit. He is such a little toddler. He's hitting that terrible two stage. I can feel it. But he is super funny and cute so it makes up for it I guess. Some cute things he does now.
-when we are in the car he screams turn right, turn left over and over.
-he runs around and says wow i go real fast.
-he speaks in complete sentences quite often.
-he can count to 13 and sing his ABCs
-we are working on letter recognition, and he can recognize a few
-he is OBSESSED with the movie cars
-his little imagination is showing through more and more. it is very entertaining to watch him play
-he races, he will say lets race, and get in stance and say one, two, three go!
-everything is I do it or no Wesley do it
-whenever we put shoes on him he will say no too big too big (even though they are the right size)
-he climbs on everything now and thinks its fun to jump
-he loves chocolate milk and m&ms
-he's also started to eat more and not be such a picky eater which is so nice.
-HE IS IN A BIG BOY BED! last night was his first night in it. It's the twin bed I had growing up. and he likes it so far. He has been having a terrible time sleeping lately. I think part of it was he moved so much in his little crib and he has been going through a growth spurt. he has been sick and uncomfortable. but last night he did better. And he is actually NAPPING right now! Thank goodness.
I love this little boy. It is so fun to watch him grow and learn new things. He is such a joy to be around and we are so glad he is in our life. I can't wait to see what the future holds. And I am excited to teach and learn everyday with him.

Freshness...
And Summer is over for real. Today is suppose to be the last day in the 90s. I hope I am not the only one super excited for this. My favorite time of year is coming up. FALL. I love the smells, the breeze, crisp air, pumpkin everything, and windows open, I cleaned my entire house today. Dusted. Oiled furniture. Clean lines. Decluttered. It was heavenly. A welcome party for the new season in my house. Now just need to put up some fall decorations.
